MATching
MATching is a plant pot designed with the help of a biotech specialist, Professor Hatti-Kaul from Lund University. The bioplastics used for MATching are biodegradable and non-toxic. As the environmental impact of plastic is becoming more and more evident and dangerous, a potential alternative material is being studied closely. For MATching, I approached the opposite concept of mass production and the artificial properties one attributes to plastic. This counterintuitive concept is expressed in the process of pouring pigment into melted bioplastic which is then put into handmade wooden molding. Each step is done by hand. Through this process, MATching has unique organic colors and patterns that are created naturally.
